  • Kwongkan / Sand, Bunbury

    Thursday, 18 October
Ochre Dance Company returns to BREC.

Ochre Dance Company returns to BREC.

Kwongkan/ Sand is a cross-cultural dance-theatre work from Ochre Contemporary Dance Company (Australia) and Daksha Sheth Dance (India). In 2016 the ensemble was resident in Bunbury and presented Kaya. Sand continues that investigation into how cultures can co-exist fruitfully and without fear.

It combines traditional (and contemporary) Indigenous and Indian dance with music, comedy and circus. The performers transform into powerful dancer/deities who struggle with their godly powers and ancient wisdoms, trying to help make sense of our crazy modern world.

The production stars WA’s indigenous greats Trevor Jamieson and Ian Wilkes with India’s brilliant siblings Isha Sharvani and Tao Issaro.

  • The Fixit Fellas Super Shed Sale at the South West Rail and Heritage Centre, Boyanup

    Sunday, 28 October
So come along, bring your bits and bobs for repair and advice...

The “Fixit Fellas” will be out and about at the October Open Day on October 28 from 10am to 2pm at the South West Rail and Heritage Centre.

Not only will this talented crew have lots of goodies to keep those men-and she-sheds fully stocked but they have been busily making and restoring a host of items, just ready for your perusal and consideration on this special day. And the “Fixit Fellas” (aka Capel Men’s Shed), along with our other resident groups at the South West Rail and Heritage Centre, the Boyanup Foundation Blacksmiths, the Preston River Old Machinery Group and the South West Model Railway Group, will be on-hand to offer repair advice and solutions to those precious items that have come to grief but are too special to throw out.

So come along, bring your bits and bobs for repair and advice, your list of ‘must haves' for the shed and check out some special gifts for those hard-to buy-for bodies on your Christmas list.

The South West Rail and Heritage Centre is located on Turner St, Boyanup and entry is by donation with refreshments available from the iconic Picnic Van and a sausage sizzle.
